Job Summary
Moving services / snow plowing / asphalt repair / truck driving /moving services

Responsibilities
Operates heavy vehicles such as front loaders, backhoes, street sweepers, flushers, Dumpster trucks, dump trucks, flat beds, forklifts and a variety of snow plow equipment by applying necessary skills to complete service jobs throughout the campus. Performs construction and maintenance activities relating to asphalt parking lots, walkways and roadways by using skills in operating the necessary equipment to complete specific assignments. Operates various pieces of equipment such as compressors, asphalt-concrete saws, asphalt spray rigs, and salt spreaders as necessary in accomplishing assigned tasks. Provides moving service by moving furniture and related items for various departments throughout campus at their request. Provides refuse pick-up service by operating large refuse trucks for the entire University campus. Instructs others of a lesser classification in methods of operating heavy vehicles and equipment as instructed by the crew leader. Performs maintenance duties including lubricating to maintain all vehicles in proper operating order ensuring their continued service. Inspects equipment daily for damage, equipment failures, and safety items to ensure the safe use of the equipment while performing assigned tasks. Performs clean-up service as necessary to provide a pleasant environment for the University community.

Minimum Qualifications
A valid Utah’s Commercial Driver’s License class A or B and a current Department of Transportation ( DOT ) medical card required. A minimum of two years experience operating commercial vehicles (over 26,000 lbs. GVW ) or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); occasional moving of heavy objects (up to 100 lbs. capability) experience; demonstrated customer services skills; and oral and written communications skills also required. Under the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991, the incumbent is subject to drug and alcohol preemployment test and random screening thereafter.
